He is trying to shave down the bottom of the mount to make it fit.

For $5 buy one (or two and resell one, it fits all SIII phones) and see if you can get it to work.

No chance. It is a very tight fit with the stock battery and cover. I've got a brand new one sitting here that I bought a couple of days ago on this deal (wish I would've known then that it was front page worthy). I bought mine with the hope that it would fit while using the extremely thin TPU case I'm using, but no luck.

I'm about to take a drill to the thing to start trying to modify it (the dock, not the phone).

Edited to add: What kind of BS is this sticker attached to the dock? To quote: "Visit the Android market, search for Samsung Car Home and download FREE application for full functionality". As far as I can tell there is no such app.
