The amount of wattage would depend completely on your application and preferred level of light. It's a subjective choice that's very difficult to advise.
The bulbs you have selected are great. They're more efficient than incandescent bulbs by 10-15%, and the Xenon/Krypton gases produce a good quality light that looks almost exactly like incandescent. None of that ugly yellow fluorescent stuff.
Just note that the energy savings means that the 60W Xenon/Krypton is equivalent in output to a 70W incandescent, and a 40W Xenon/Krypton would be equivalent to a 48W incandescent.
Thanks for the info. I think I'll go for the 40's. Thse seem more like accent lighting then room illuminating or reading type lights.
This fixture can utilize any Candelabra Base Incandescent Bulb up to a maximum of 60 Watts. G16 refers to the shape of the bulb only, which may or may not be important depending on how the shade mounts to this fixture. Always safe to purchase the shape that the manufacturer recommends, though.
G16's typically run about $5 a piece if bought individually. You can pick one up on Amazon while you're shopping.
Hope that helps.
You know your lightbulbs! thanks for your help. Got my lamps today, and they're cute- kind of small. I got some bulbs for it, and the glass shade gets really hot..Repp'd
