Thoughts on Job Requiring Security Clearance
I am graduating from college this spring, and I'm currently deciding between two job offers in the defense industry; one that I will have to get a security clearance for, and one that I won't. I'm leaning towards the one that requires a security clearance, as the job sounds more in line with my interests, but I have a few questions that I was hoping some people might be able to comment on.
I shouldn't have any problems getting a security clearance, and I don't have any issues with the process, but I am a little concerned about two things:
I know I am asking specific questions, but I am just trying to get a general understanding from people that may have worked in careers such as these.
I shouldn't have any problems getting a security clearance, and I don't have any issues with the process, but I am a little concerned about two things:
- My understanding is that projects are worked on in teams behind closed doors, and you can't bring your phone in, etc. Is internet usage normally blocked too?
- Does the inability to talk specifically about previous work experience cause any issues in future job interviews, or does talking in general terms normally work fine?
I know I am asking specific questions, but I am just trying to get a general understanding from people that may have worked in careers such as these.
