Samsung Chromebook will be only $199 on BF!

The bestbuys in chicago have this on display but no stock. Amazon had it at $249 and sold out immediately. Out of stock everywhere.

What runs on this? Email & browser only?

Can you connect an external drive and use this as a computer? (albeit slow)

Was just saying yesterday that I would buy 2 if they went to $200. Hopefully they will have some decent stock so I can get my hands on a couple.

I did not mean the processor specifically but you will be very limited to Internet browsing and online apps which is ok if you're into that, but I don't trust the cloud with my documents and other things therefore I don't see the point of this device. Everyone is different of course.

when you say "specifications" it means hardware. But otherwise I agree with you. Personally I need a PC for more than just web browsing. Google Apps are pretty good now, but don't satisfy my need.

But there are a lot of people who use their computer primarily as a browser.

Yea, I know someone was working on it. Maybe booting from the SD card. I can't remember. Point is the hardware is pretty decent for $200.

Many people also forget that the Chrome Store has Chrome Remote Desktop which is a pretty awesome universal remote desktop application. Linux/Windows/OSX, it can connect to all. For someone who already has an i7 desktop, this is great for me.

I just googled it, it's a Google dev who booted Ubuntu from a SD card. Remote desktop might work but still I want the real stuff. Just sitting on the fence to see if anyone could port Ubuntu to it (doubt Samsung will ever release it).

Im on my chromebook right now and Netflix has always worked. I bought the acer last year and love it! its not a powerhouse by any means but for watching movies and browsing online while im at work it does great! I can access all of my files from my home computer through remote apps. I'm tempted to upgrade to the new samsung with these prices!
