If storage is not an issue, go for the SSD. It will bring new life to your laptop. Or do what I've done. Get a SATA optical caddy and replace your optical drive with an SSD. That way you can keep your existing HHD as storage drive.

That sounds backwards. You should put your existing HDD in the optical drive slot and the SSD in the main slot, since generally the optical drive is at lower speeds or requires some sort of adapter/converter connection in the optical caddy.

This drive is excruciatingly slow. I mean excruciating. If you don't mind extremely slow loading performance, 1 minute boot times, etc and need the space however, this is a good deal.

Great rebate Companies:

Patriot Memory (4myrebate.com): 6 Weeks
Tiger Direct (4myrebate): 3 weeks
Rain-X (in house): 3 weeks

BAD BAD MAIL IN REBATE COMPANIES:

Xigmatek 26 weeks, 14 emails, 2 phone calls (finally received)
NZXT 21 weeks, 4 phone calls. Check that was finally received was dated 2 months earlier with a 90 day expiration on it, giving me about 25 days to cash it. Shady shady shady.

It actually beats some 7200 rpm drives and the older momentus xt 500gb when compared in this review: http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...270-9.html No data on acoustics and heat output though. Might be overkill to put in a ps3 but some new digital games go over 10gb now.
