RX100 has a much smaller sensor. They are totally different classes of cameras.
This is true. However, the Zeiss glass on the RX100 is superior to the kit lens of the NEX-5N which makes up for the smaller sensor. If you plan on just sticking with the kit lens, the RX100 is superior because of its pocketability and comparable picture quality. That said, I think that the NEX-5N is a better value because of the price.
I'm just curious what's the difference between Sony NEX-F3 and NEX-5N? I have both, trying to sell the F3 since it's still new in box, bought the 5N last year for $700. Thinking about selling the F3 to a friend for around ~$425 and might use the money to get the 16-50mm lens.
