So, I went to my store to do this but they only had ipad 3 64gb verizon 3g black. I wanted a white 64gb wifi only one. I bought it anyway because it's such a good deal. My question is:
Is there any store that has a return policy that would enable me to swap this out for the one I want OR let me exchange for a 4th gen and pay the $50 price difference?
I went to walmart/best buy/verizon store. Each of them said Apple does serial numbers specific to retailers and you can only return/exchange at the retailer you bought it from. I figure that must be true, but was wondering if any of you SDers could think of a cool work around for this.
FYI, I don't live anywhere near an Apple store otherwise I'd try there.
Not a problem here. Wanted a 16gb but they only had 32gb. It was only $70 more so it was a no brainer. Great all-around deal. I was going to grab the Ipad 3 at launch, glad I passed and saved over $200 bucks!
I was actually able to pick up a couple iPad 4th generations at my local meijer. No mini's but they did have the new 4th gens. Came out to $344+tax for the 16GB and $413+tax for the 32GB. Great deal IMO for the newest model!
I also grabbed a 3rd gen iPad as well for $309+tax
The 4G iPad (fourth generation which is technically correct for the nitpickers out there ) is superior to the 3G iPad in processing speed and Wifi speeds. I notice a pretty significant difference between my iPhone 5 and 3G iPad. That said, the 3G iPad is a great device and this price, if it works out that way, is really very good. I've also heard that they upped the resolution on the front camera in the newest one, but never researched whether that was true.
Again, let me point out, the 3G iPad is a great device and for $150-200 less than the newest model, is a bargain. I spent full price on mine and don't regret it one bit because of how much use it gets.
$70 off for a hardly used ipad with full warranty is a very attractive option. With most manufacturers, refurb units may as well be new.
I orders 2 iPads refurbs during the Apple deal and I received it a couple of weeks back. If I keep a new iPad the the refurb side-by-side, I can bet no one can tell the difference. It does not have even an hairline of a scratch. Apple replaces the outer casing of the refurb iPad, they change the battery and they provide new cable/charger. What else is left? Anyone who has been using electronics for some time, know that the internals can fail for any reason even on the new items. And that's what the warranty is for and Apple provides the same warranty on the refurbs as it does on the new ones. Bottom line, they are as good as new and for $120 less (eventhough I got it for much less), during the time of the Apple promotion, it still a good deal.
