Have you tried both? What are the advantages to one over the other? Steam mops seem like less work to me, but this is our first one.
Granted the steam mop we used was that cheap SteamFast on clearance at HD last year. It was used 2 times and have since been boxed and stored in the garage. The cord was a hassle if you want go round things. The micro fiber cleaning pads get dirty fast (that's actually a good thing) even if sweep the dust and debris first as you should. You however may have to wash it clean by hand or machine and alternate with the extra pad. I recall it being somewhat awkward to maneuver and the cleaning path is small. The moisture path doesn't dry as quick even though it was heated. The Hoover and others are likely better though.
We have 3 spin mop variations purchased from Chinese stores. They're somewhat durable as long as you're not careless and spin wring when it's locked. They should have used metal screw connections instead of plastic which may get worn and loose over time from excess spin wring force. The moisture after moping using any water temperature is quite fast. The mop head washes great in the washing machine and comes out nearly new each time as long as you sweep the dust and debris. It soaks up a lot and doesn't leave dirty water in it's track. The cleaning path is medium and it maneuvers great. The awesome thing is you can use it on other surfaces other than the floor- walls, ceiling, windows, wash the car, etc. I also favor this as we usual don't have electricity at vacant rentals we don't need to bother turning it on under our name. It's funny what a conversation item it is when people see it in use. I usually feel like a salesman doing a pitch and we even ended up selling one.
I bought this from Amazon for $130 , 7 months ago. I was the 5th person to review it. Im amazed at how many reviews ( especially positive!) it has now.
Well worth it. I use it often (im a d00d with OCD, so wut)
I took it to my dads shop to clean his decade uncleaned bathroom...I'm the guy on the amazon link that provided pictures of that(go look at the before and after picture). I'd say it's pretty good, especially for THAT price. I have nothing else to compare it to, though.
For tile like you see in the shop picture, it's amazing. For my homes vinyl floors, it' good, but I feel you'd have to use a scrub brush if you wanted amazing results.
I only use water with it, none of the chemicals provided(they charge a fortune for them)
If you're still using a bucket and mop, this is a no brainer at this price.
