These won't sell on ebay more than $30-40 --- bad sign.
I don't know if it is fair to talk about 5 year ago blu-rays, but our first was a Samsung and it was so utterly rubbish and so frustrating that the fact that they even had the audacity to sell the damned thing to us was just about outright fraud. 25% of all discs, brand new from the factory, would not play on it properly, even after 2 years worth of updates and patches installed. Really didn't plan on buying anything from the company again except LCDs |

I got it last Xmas as a gift, and have used it once up til October, at which point I signed up for Netflix and it now gets daily use from the kids. Its a shame that these BD players overall really seem like disposable units good for maybe a year or two, tops. |

I have this unit and it froze after about 8 months of use. Samsung fixed it under warranty though. Google for "BD-D5500ZA LOAD" or "BD-D5500ZA Stuck". Apparently, this is a fairly common problem with Samsungs.
