Chinese tablets
I'm interested in buying the Ramos W30HD 10" tablet. My only concern is the software support, how are these Chinese companies with software support? Even some of the top tier companies take forever to come out with software updates, would it be safe to say that I should keep my expectations low as far as software support goes if I choose to buy this tablet? The W30HD looks like a great tablet...on paper anyway: Ramos W30HD Quad Core Features: OS: Android 4.0.4 CPU: Quad Core Samsung Exynos 4412 1.5GHz GPU: Quad Core Mali-400 MP RAM 1GB,DDR3 Storage 16GB Shell Material Metal Screen: Capacitive Touchscreen, 1920*1200 Full High-resolution Screen Size: 10.1 inch Resolution: 1920*1200 Pixels Visible Angle: 178° Display: IPS Bluetooth: Support Last edited by pantsondaground; 11-08-2012 at 06:29 PM.. trolled by onFail

You will get 0 support for the OS and it's doubtful that the ICS that it has, will be complete.
Think of it this way.... Jelly Bean was released 4 months ago on the Nexus 7, and the Ramos is soon to be released with ICS. Doesn't that tell you something? Apart from the fact that the device itself will be made from inferior materials and that even the volume buttons are made out of white plastic, and that not all IPS screens are created equal and that China constantly dumps crap on the US, the mere fact that it would sell for almost $300, makes it a bit loco to consider, when you can get an outdated brand name 10 inch tablet for a similar price or less. I can't even start to imagine why you'd be considering buying one. |

Its like comparing a steak to beef jerky. And do you really think that this unknown brand will have an Apple quality IPS screen? And who is going to service it when you wake up one day and find that parts of the touchscreen no longer react to touch? If you buy a cheapo gallon of paint to paint a room, instead of buying a good brand at double the price, then the cheapo paint peels off in 6 months, would it have been worth the money you saved? No matter how cheap garbage is, it's still garbage. Just about every single 1st generation tablet release is defective these days, be it an Apple, an Asus, or a Nexus. Do you think the quality control will be better at Ramos? There's a huge difference between a big electronics company that manufaturers products in China, to save money on labour, than an actual Chinese company with no development capacity of their own, other than copying existing technology, using cheaper components. Let someone else be the guinea pig. |

How is support? Read this thread http://slickdeals.net/f/5415804-N...ing-Tablet If you can read Chinese and you are willing to invest time and fix things yourself, it might be ok. Expect problems (Probably no google play access from the box), expect poor support too. Honestly don't expect much of a deal here. You are getting what you pay for.
Some OEM's are slow for updates, but they are getting better on more popular devices without cell radios in them. If its a popular device there is always the ROM scene too. If software updates are a priority for you, then you can't beat a Nexus 7 or the new Nexus 10. From all accounts the new Nexus 10 is a pretty good tablet, with a best in class screen. The nexus 10 is about $100 more than what your saying here, and has better specs. That is the way I would steer you if you want a 10". Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

I've seen some of these Chinese tablets and netbooks. My goodness, they sure know how to make them cheap and they don't last long. You're the lucky exception if you get one that lasts an entire year. |

If this is a 24/7 primary tablet, stick with HQ ASUS and Samsung Nexus 10. Hell even the crappy Lenovo A2109 259.99(Bad TN) is better quality then PiPo and Ainol tablets. Some great tablets to look at are the ASUS TF 300 259.99(A9 Quad 800p IPS), Acer A700 349.99 (A9 Quad 1200p Good TN+), ASUS TF 379.99(A9 Quad 1200p IPS+) 399.99 Nexus 10 (A15 Dual 1600p IPS) Last edited by FAL; 11-09-2012 at 11:33 AM.. << Your SD Reps/Feedback Improves Post =
