Repair guy just left. The warranty people on the phone seemed to understand what I was saying about the door assembly needing to be replaced, but the repair guy showed up with no parts and needed a bit of convincing. Upshot is he ordered a new door assembly and locking mechanism (we also have the problem of the door being next to impossible to open without throwing out your back -- guy was pretty amazed at how hard it was so it's not just us weaklings) to be shipped directly to us and he will return in a week to install. I'm not excited that it's not corrected with one trip, but at least it will be corrected.
so here's my saga...
Ordered on 11/11. Delivered and installed on 11/29. Non-magnetic door extremely hard to opened. Called for service. Repair guy came and was amazed at how hard the door was to open. Ordered and replaced door (with magnet), hinges and latch. Still did not resolve the opening issue. Service guy recommended waiting to see if it loosened up...it never did.
3 weeks ago, washer sprung a leak, damaging my laundry room floor. Called service. Same service guy found the source of the leak... failure in the door/tub gasket. Ordered a new gasket to be installed last Thursday and filed an insurance claim with Sears. Thursday comes and goes, no part or service. Called on Friday and the service department was totally useless. Was told I would receive a call back in 2 business days, which never happened. Called Customer Care that same Friday to bitch and moan. Rep said they would swap out the unit and that I would receive an email in 2 days with delivery information.
Comes Tuesday noon and no email. Call Customer Care again and they had no record of the exchange that was promised on Friday. But they did go ahead and ordered the replacement washer. Washer exchange happened this afternoon. New washer is a bit easier to open, but no magnet...ugh!
Still waiting to hear back from the insurance claim.
Update: New door latch and door assembly were delivered via UPS over the past week, and repairman came today to install. Door now opens without massive effort and the magnet allows it to stay open enough but not all the way. Success! Thanks to everyone in the thread for advice. Can't wait to start using the machine.
I was curiious to see if anyone who used their Discover card through the shopdiscover.com kmart.com 10% cb promo got their 10% cashback. I was looking through past statements and realized I never received that cb. I used the discover chat today and put a case in, but i noticed on my statement it came up sears.com and not kmart.com, so has anyone received theirs?
