Thread Details

Sears.com [sears.com] has (11/22) 50'' Toshiba 50L2200U 1080p LED HDTV for $299.99 on November 23rd (BLACK FRIDAY).

Additional info:

Description: We have barely seen any 50" LED HDTV's for $500, so this $300 price tag is slick! The TV does not have WiFi or Apps, or many HDMI inputs but for $300, it does not need to. What you will get is a very good TV at an unbeatable price.
Manufacturer: Toshiba
Model: 50L2200U

Category: LED Televisions (TVs)

Discover is beginning to approve the Price Protection claims as of December 7. Looks like the Discover deal is on!

While most store descriptions aren't mentioning it for whatever reason (or mention it cryptically, like how ABT says it's "D-LED" [abt.com]), this is a full array/direct lit LED TV, as opposed to the much more common edge lit. Direct lit has much more even backlighting.

L2200 Series: Toshiba's L2200 will be available in the new 50-inch class screen size with 1080p Full HD resolution and features new Direct LED technology. This TV includes the new Dynamic Picture Mode and Audyssey premium sound enhancement suite as well as two HDMI ports, an HD PC Input and a USB Media port. The L2200 features the new Aero Family Design and will be available in April.
Also note that it's almost twice as thick as Toshiba's edge-lit LED LCD TVs, which is necessary in direct lit models because the LEDs are spaced out behind the screen instead of just being at the top and bottom.

Talked to a Sears rep trying to find out if they knew which door to wait by, during conversation, he said they had a max of 10 items and a minimum of 2. Not sure he's right but take it under advisement.

So is this going to be available at this price online? I saw in the ad it says "at least 4 per store. limit 1 per household." Not sure how it would be a Sears.com deal, looks to be in-store only?

Are these actually any good? Heard mixed opinions on Toshiba. Who makes the panels in these?

Also, does anyone know if Discover's recently added price protection covers Black Friday? The website doesn't have any exclusions that I can find.
