Thread Details

Sears.com [sears.com] has (11/22) 50'' Toshiba 50L2200U 1080p LED HDTV for $299.99 on November 23rd (BLACK FRIDAY).

Additional info:

Description: We have barely seen any 50" LED HDTV's for $500, so this $300 price tag is slick! The TV does not have WiFi or Apps, or many HDMI inputs but for $300, it does not need to. What you will get is a very good TV at an unbeatable price.

SilverD, that cat looks really happy to have a new wall-mounted tv. Also, is that an NES in the cabinet?
He sure is, lots more room to nap. Almost, it's an NES PCOMG

Without mentioning the name of the company who bore the brunt of this SD.........

I wonder if Amazon will figure out that in general they can sell more $500 items by moving the price up and down between $500 and $750 or whatever. Either way they get $500 after price adjusting to themselves, but lure more SDers who get more out of other price matches/guarantees!

In this case, both Amazon and customers did better by Amazon setting a high price on an item on sale elsewhere, than they would have with a low/matching price.

And at the other end, will any card guarantee ever get smart enough to prevent double dipping? Short of discontinuing the whole program, or putting limits on it (as in, an annual refund limit, or how stupid a price they'll allow, relative to recent prices at the same or other retailers) this will be a tough one for them to shut down. Even if they tracked partial refunds related to a purchase, it's tough for them to prove it's not some sort of combo discount, "scratch and save" contest prize award, or whatever. And if they succeeded, Amazon would just then have an incentive to offer the refund via check, account credit, gift card or whatever, vs partially refunding via the card payment method.

Amazon would be smart to offer a choice of price-guarantee crediting methods. Not sure if that would violate their agreements with credit card companies or not. The good news is that Amazon is big enough that any card promotion changing to excluding them would create an uproar and backlash.

I received my check today.

Paid 750.00 - 250.00 amazon price adjustment - 450 discover reimbursement = 50.00 dollar TV.

I won black friday this year.

Congrats on everyone who got this deal.

There are good settings somewhere in this thread that another user gave. They work great.
holy crap dude, i thought i was hot stuff paying $550 after tax with tigerdirect and getting $200 back from discover. i'll remember the amazon price adjustment in the future. was that an adjustment for when the price dropped back down to $500?

Yes, I bought the tv at 750 from Amazon and then it went on sale later in the day for 500. So I received 250.00 from the Amazon price match and then the 450.00 rebate check from discover. I also was wrong on the total price, after I received the tv I checked my Discover cashback bonus and also got 25 bucks on that... so I got the tv for 25 dollars, easily the best slickdeal I have ever been a part of.

My friend just got amazon to price match an extra 50$ because its 450$ now. So hes sitting at a net 0 before considering discover cash back which neither of us have checked out. YMMV because the price match period has expired but he got it on the first call to large items department.

I paid 750-(450 amazon)-(450 discover)=-150
Friend paid 750-(250.99 first Amazon PM)-(450 discover)-(50 second amazon PM=-.99

Not sure how the 99 cents came in but it did.
