Thread Details

Sears.com [sears.com] has (11/22) 50'' Toshiba 50L2200U 1080p LED HDTV for $299.99 on November 23rd (BLACK FRIDAY).

Additional info:

Description: We have barely seen any 50" LED HDTV's for $500, so this $300 price tag is slick! The TV does not have WiFi or Apps, or many HDMI inputs but for $300, it does not need to. What you will get is a very good TV at an unbeatable price.
Manufacturer: Toshiba
Model: 50L2200U

Category: LED Televisions (TVs)

I'd actually be interested in this but I have no clue which of my Sears stores will actually have Black Friday deals this year. The ones I frequented closed down this year and the only ones I know of still open are "sears automotive" centers and look to be closed on the 22nd. Anyone know how to find out which Sears stores are "real" sears stores lol?

Why do you care where people decide to camp?
Because 99.9% of people that want to shop at Best Buy for Black Friday CAN'T camp out for 7 days, so they are forced to go somewhere else. That includes me. I haven't gone to Best Buy since 2007 that I used to go yearly. I have only gone to Wal-Mart, Target, and now Sears next. I'm flipping around now.

I'm clicking on the link you posted and searching the Sears website, but I don't see a 50" TV of any kind on sale for $299! What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

When you open the link there is a link Click to view Black Friday Ad. After that, there is a dropdown menu on the top of the catalogue to select the page, select 64.

They hide it at the back, so some people will not know.

It is tradition. Much like tailgating. If you get the chance, check out the people down in Fort Myers, FL. They have a nice setup and will be partying all week. Big Grin
The problem with Sears is the sales and how they will be handling it. If you are going for the Toshiba, great. The other 50inch TV might be harder to obtain since they don't seem to have their act together on whether or not to let people who wait in line for the 8 PM opening have tickets for the next event. My opinion is that they will not allow it, since quantities are limited to 4. I have been waiting on their answer for nearly a week, but the time frame for a lineup is slipping away.

By far the hottest HDTV deal for this Black Friday this year, but everybody seems to ignore it. Why? Who's camping out at Sears?

See page 64.

You must be new here, both the Sears thread and a few HDTV threads are talking about this tv.

Most locations will not have dedicated shoppers that do the entire 7 day stint. Some are merely opportunists that see a line of campers, see some tents, go to Walmart, pick up a small tent, set it up, leave, and then come back early on the day of the event. It works for some, but others got their stuff taken.

True story: Some people left their gear. A person strikes up a conversation with some of our group and the subject of occupancy came up. The individual came back later in the night, packed up the tent, and set it up at another Best Buy. When the original owners came back the next day, sure enough, they found their tent where we said it would probably end up, since the thief was honest about where his buddies were camping!

Aside from the obvious *sshole factor, what would prevent someone from going to Sears, buying this model RIGHT NOW. Keeping it packaged... then showing up Black Friday afternoon, and returning it and immediately buying it back and/or getting them to do a price reduction at customer service for the sale price?

might not be on the floor for purchase. Some stores remove their doorbusters so they have them in stock.

I live in a small town in Indiana that has a Sears store that is smaller than a Radio Shack. The manager (only guy there working too!) pointed to the 50" Toshiba on the shelf and said "that one and another one boxed up will be sold Friday"...selling for $799 right now. I think I might I ask him about buying it right now, hadn't thought about that...I compare it to what you guys are doing with the price protection...hmmmmm...can't wait to see what he says...he might not be allowed to sell it, but I know that I know he said "its a great deal because I'm selling it right now for $799"...

....edit....boooo, my wife said I'm getting too OCD with it and its not fair to people that think there will be 2 there...I guess she is right. But I still would like to know how that works...it IS a tv they are selling right now, including online...surely they won't honor returns/receipt credits, but why would Sears care who gets the deal unless the person bringing it back drug the TV thru the store and made a big scene? Anyway, before anyone flames me for what I posted first, I am not going to try this! lol
