I am going to send an e-mail to Discover to be sure, but I wonder if they might try to deny the claim under this exclusion: "9.Negotiated sales, one-of-a kind sales, cash-only sales"
Do they mean a one of a kind item or a one time sale? Seems they could define it however they wanted. But that would be an easy way to get in on this deal if it will work. That would be Sweetness
One of a kind is the only one that comes close to fitting, but even then it's a stretch since I'm not even sure what a "one of a kind sale" is. Maybe something like model numbers that vary by the retailer?
If Discover will cover this, then ordering it now from a tax-free retailer seems like a no brainer.
If I have a credit card like the Citi Platinum, or Citi Diamond preffered, the terms say they will match price changes within 90 days and up to $500 per transaction.
Would this be a qualifying purchase for that if i went and bought it retail at sears today and then had it price matched to the doorbuster price?
Found this in the Price Protection fine print on my credit card:
The Price Protection benefit does not apply to advertisements for close-out sales,
flea markets, fire sales, cash-only sales, limited quantity promotions, liquidation
sales, going-out-of-business sales, seasonal sales, or advertisements on the Internet. The Price Protection benefit is secondary to and excess of store policies
offering a lowest-price guarantee or any other form of refund for price differences.
I'm guessing they'd call this a 'limited quantity promotion.' Bummer, because I'd like to do that too!
