Actually I think DAS and these Quick Fire Pros are both made by the same OEM, iOne.

Using this exact keyboard right now, no idea where you're getting "iffy quality control". As far as my experience goes, the keyboard feels great, partial backlit keys have adjustable light levels and various modes. If you're looking for a gaming keyboard or want to use a mechanical keyboard, this is perfect for you. Some reviews say that their keyboard was DOA, but all you have to do is plug the mini usb firmly into the port on the back and make sure it's all the way in. At first I thought I received a defective keyboard, but it was because the mini usb was not fully connected.

Well, I got one from last deal of $60 after $10 rebate. Still trying to adjust myself for the switch. I would suggest those who are still hesitate to try a real one at your local store, say, Office Depot, Office Max, or BB, etc. I am kind of regretful jumping so quickly on this mechanical keyboard boat cause I don't feel any immediate improvement with my typing. I still like to bottom out with those cheap plastic keyboard. Just my $0.02.
