I need to get my account to Premier status again before the year's up...so I have to get to that $1000 benchmark.

Will buying this gift card count towards that $1000 requirement?

No...GCs do not count...I figured that out last year the hard way.

And I have used Serve with prepaid credit cards, VISA gift cards, and regular credit cards. It is sometimes hit or miss with individual cards, but it has worked on all of those groups before.

If you bought Mastercard GCs from Staples last month, check your Rewards account. I was surprised to see my GC purchases were counted towards "Year-to-Date Spent" in my rewards account. Honestly I didn't expect it but I take it. Go figure.

Serve has waived CC loading fees until March. However, I got an email threatening to close my account after loading with a CC and withdrawing to a bank account. It goes against their T&C point regarding that it is not allowed to be used for cash advances (can't send it to someone else either). So either load up a bunch until March and just withdraw a lot at once, or plan to unload the serve card via amazon payments or just buy stuff with it.

Yes, provided you activate the Visa/MC before you try to use them on the next transaction.

You could buy one card, activate it, then use it to buy another one, etc., until you reach the max limit per rewards account. This would permit you to stack-up the Staples GCs.

If you are going to buy a bunch of stuff with your Server card, why wouldn't you just buy a bunch of stuff with the VISA gift card instead?

Anyway thanks for info about Serve as I didn't know they frown so much on that and I will try to use my card more.

Each card will cost you $105.99 , so using the previously purchased card will require you to still pay $5.99 more.

Yes sounds like a good strategy to buy one of these VISA cards and then use it to buy the next one and so on. You still have to pay the extra $5.99 but at least you don't end up with $1000 of VISA gift cards at the end. You only end up with one and out $59.99 in extra cash and have $150 in Staples Gift Cards (after submitting all those SERs and hopefully getting the cards).

I'm debating whether it's worth it to make $9. I dunno.

No, only the Visa/MC prepaid cards have that fee, other gift cards don't.
