Thread Details

This deal is listed in Page 9 of staples ad for the week 11/11 - 11/17. Limit 10 Staples Gift Cards per name/address/household. Of course, there is an activation fee of $5.99 on the $100 Visa / Master cards. Even after factoring in the activation fee, it is a potential $9 MM deal(in the form of Staples GC..) per VISA/Master card purchase.

can you buy gcs with this gc
Although Staples website says the following about their store GCs: "Cannot be used for credit card payments or to purchase other gift cards (including Staples Gift Cards) or wireless cards. Not redeemable for cash or credit except where required by law. No more than five cards may be used for any single purchase. Cards may not be consolidated" I would say YMMV. If you end up with a dumb cashier/Manager, you might be able to do so.

Hey Guys,

I am in NorCal and I just got mine today. Sumbitted the rebate on 11/14/12, bought 10 $100 MC gift cards before I knew about the $200 gift card trick.

Anyways, My CSR allowed me to buy other store gift cards with this gift card. Smilie

Really?! Wow, I hope I'm that lucky. Saw amazon and lowes gift cards at staples the other night and wondered if I would be able to buy them with staples gift cards. I'm sure it's hit or miss depending on which cashier you get, but I'd love to be able to do that.

Go to the store when they're almost done for the day. That is when the success rate is high from my experience. If you're shot down, give a smile and offer to pay as you would otherwise.

I got a $90 and a $60 today. The RebatesHQ site says I'm due another $90 so we will see if I get it. It is still showing valid on the stapleseasyrebate site too.

Anyway to figure out which gift card goes with a rebate? I did five 1 x $200 VISA prepaid card and one 2 x $200 VISA prepaid card under one account. From rebateshq.com, I should get 5 $30 Staples GC and one $60 Staples GC. So far, I only received the $60 GC.

Under the Staples return address on the cardstock that the Staples GC arrives on is a 9-digit number. Could it be a tracking number?

Anyway, can anyone advise whether it's best to move $ out of Serve into a bank acct using a single big xfer or multiple smaller xfers? Should I leave a few dollars behind?

Edit: Also it took exactly 9 days between getting the "check's in the mail" e-mail and actually having GC in hand.

It is a tracking number but not one of the ones I received when I submitted my rebates.

If your Serve account is still active, just zero out and do 1 bulk transfer to your bank account upto a max. of $1000. If you do multiple transfers, it is possible that you might be stuck in the middle of this series of transactions due to the account being frozen by Serve.

Thanks. That makes sense.

do GCs lower total taxes like rewards do? I think not, but just wanted to confirm... If you're making a decently large purchase ($100+) it would be best to use some rewards and some GCs right, rather than just GCs (don't have enough rewards to cover the entire cost).

EDIT: also, Like someone predicted earlier I got my GC today (3 * $200.. wish I did more of these, but that's all the store had); I'm in Socal, San Diego area

Gift cards do not lower taxes like rewards do.
