Thread Details

This deal is listed in Page 9 of staples ad for the week 11/11 - 11/17. Limit 10 Staples Gift Cards per name/address/household. Of course, there is an activation fee of $5.99 on the $100 Visa / Master cards. Even after factoring in the activation fee, it is a potential $9 MM deal(in the form of Staples GC..) per VISA/Master card purchase.

Can you load these GCs to Serve account and transfer to bank account?
I'm not sure about the Visa cards, but the MasterCard GCs are through USBank, which for some reason doesn't play nice with Serve - you won't be able to load your serve account with them. AP should work though.

I wouldn't call it a $9 money making deal, since Staples gift card is not money. This is more like getting Staples gift cards at 40% off, which is not bad.

Kindle Paperwhite is better Stick Out Tongue
Have you tried both? I like the physical buttons on the Nook ST and how easily integrates with Calibre. I'm not tied to Amazon in any way for ebooks.

If Paperwhite is indeed better, I'll go for it!

So net +$90 if you churn this 10 times in seperate transactions?

That's a lot of work for $90. God knows they're not going to let you check out ten times in a row at the store. You'd probably have to hit multiple stores for multiple days. Probably too much fuel and time wasted...

Also, as others have mentioned, the resulting staples gift cards are not able to be used online or by phone. Not a huge deal, but still a bummer.

they are not staples GCs, they are standard generic Visa/MC, check the screenshot.
Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Uhm, the reabate sent to you is a staples gift card, hence his post "can I transfer the gc to my serve account".. GC=Gift card. If he meant trnasfering his visa/mc balance to his serve act then of course, any cc can be used for that purpose.

As far as using the visa /mc , well, you can pay off many everyday bills with these, unless you're a youngn with little to no bills.... which begs the question, How could you afford these in the first place... but I digress.

If I buy a $1000 gift card in a single transaction, then do I get $150 in staples gift cards? Or would it have to be 10 x $100 gift cards if I want to get $150 in Staples GC's?

Serve has waived CC loading fees until March. However, I got an email threatening to close my account after loading with a CC and withdrawing to a bank account. It goes against their T&C point regarding that it is not allowed to be used for cash advances (can't send it to someone else either). So either load up a bunch until March and just withdraw a lot at once, or plan to unload the serve card via amazon payments or just buy stuff with it.
There is no point in using amazon payments with Serve card as it is easier to just use ap directly. I guess the best thing is to keep loading your card and withdraw it all at once and if they close it ask them to f**k themselves

Actually not all the Gift cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) cannot be used on Serve. There is some issues. Mastercard gift cards definitely does not work as I found out from the last deal from staples. About Visa gift cards also, not all work. So, cashing these Gift cards is difficult AFAIK.

Does serve put a $1 hold on a card like amazon payments?

I have used Visa gift cards with Serve, from various rebates like Norton and Staples too. I think I have used some MC ones as well but not certain there.

I preferred the buttons on the basic kindle! Also integrates with Calibre quite well.

The BIGGEST problem with the Nook and Calibre is that, unless you are rooted, you are limited about 200MB of space since 1GB is completely reserved for BN purchases, and 700MB or so for OS. The nook does have a micro-SD slot so expansion is not an expensive problem, just annoying. The kindle doesn't have the expansion, but has much more space for saving anything on it.
