Quote : The Focus is marketed as the only Windows Phone that has a microSD card slot but many users found that installation can be tricky. The SD card used in the Samsung Focus must meet certain performance requirements, such as random read and write speeds, which cannot be determined with the speed class alone. When inserting a new SD card into the Samsung Focus, the phone must be reformatted and reset to factory settings.AT&T has informed customers to buy a "Samsung Focus approved" microSD card in order to use the slot. After inserting an SD card, one cannot remove it as the card integrates with the phone's memory; doing so will completely erase the phone along with the card.

Great starter phone for those just getting into the Smartphone game.
Don't listen to all the haters that will say it is trash because it won't update to the newest OS...3/4 of all Androids won't update after 4 months and you can't find an iPhone under $300 that will update either...

Windows Phone 7 handsets did not sell as expected, and there is still plenty of inventory laying around. WP7 handset prices are going to continue to drop. There are probably hundreds of thousands of WP7 Lumias still waiting to be unloaded as well. So if you need a smartphone right now, today, and want something with no contract, this is a decent deal. but if you can wait until next year, I bet between now and then there are some much better deals. |

The only new Apps that will not work on WP7 are the apps that are SPECIFICALLY designed with the new APIs of WP8. All your Fart Machines and Calories Trackers that make up 95% of the iOS/Android/Windows Phone store will still work on all phones. You will at least have 120,000 apps to choose from, including most of the popular games. Let me know when you've played through all of those

This is the best deal RIGHT NOW, but I agree 100% with the above. Plus Nokia maps and music on the Lumia make it a better option. |

Does anyone have this phone working with t-mobile?

I agree that it's a good price for someone needing a smartphone TODAY without contract. Having said that. I wouldn't buy it . Microsoft is great at certain things but phones haven't been one of them. I know those that have Windows phones will disagree but the Market says different. With the couple Win 8 phones that are being released, the Win 7 phone will soon be forgotten. Not knocking Microsoft or Windows phones but it is what it is.
Come on "good" deals

If you're in the market for an affordable unlocked smartphone that is not $600-700 then this is a great phone and deal.
Don't take my word for it look at how others rate it: New egg 21 reviews 4 out of 5 stars: link [newegg.com] 900+ reviews 5 stars: link [samsung.com] Brighthand 4.5 stars: link [brighthand.com] engadget: link [engadget.com] Gizmodo: link [gizmodo.com] Bottom line.... is it a cutting edge smart phone; NO. Is it a solid well rated affordable option for someone on a limited budget; YES. PS> Feedback on the Egg actually claim it is loaded with Win7.5 (Mango) Cheers all

Best 1st Gen WM7 phone. I've got one and love it. Best phone I've ever had. But, I'm waiting for a 2nd Gen WM7 phone to replace it with to get 4G and a front-facing camera. All of my personal must have apps are available on WM7. Just because WM8 is coming out doesn't mean that these apps will no longer be available in the Marketplace.
Come on deals on a Nokia Lumia 900!!! Good deal if you need a great smartphone off contract right now, though. |

This has been a great phone. I have been using it for 2 years now and have little complaints. This phone can be setup to tether(wired) and has a micro SD slot for expanding the memory. There will be an update to Windows 7.8 which will feature some(Not many) of the new features found on Windows Phone 8.
Note: if you drop this phone and break the screen, it is junk. The screen does not work like some of the other phones out there. A bargain is something you can’t use at a price you can’t resist. — Franklin Jones

Good phone recommended
I've been using my Samsung Focus for about a year now. Got it from Cowboom last year for about $110 after using a 20% off coupon code. It was barely used. The screen is really good qualify and I don't have a single scratch on it after a yr of heavy use. I am pretty careful with it most of time but I occasionally mixed it in my pants pockets with coins and keys. Yet the screen is almost perfect. Pretty remarkable. The biggest issue I have with this phone is the MicroSD card capability. I've tried several cards (Class 2, 4, and 10 from different manufacturers) but had no luck. The phone either goes into endless reboots or simply ignores the card. Maybe you will have better luck than me. Battery is about average, about 1.5 days per charge. Reception and call quality are good. overall a very responsive phone that's amazingly bug free. As a working software developer, I have to say Microsoft really did a good job with the Windows Phone 7 platform. It's a shame that it came out so late and had such difficult time finding traction in the mobile market. Last edited by flushing11358; 11-09-2012 at 12:33 PM.. Reason: misspellings |
