Holiday Price Matching: Target prices and competitor printed ads

We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at a Target store between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24 and find the identical item for less at Target, Target.com or in a competitor’s local printed ad. Simply bring in proof of the current lower price and we’ll match that price at the Guest Service desk.

The original Target receipt must be brought in when requesting the price match by Dec. 24.
The item must be the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
For matching Target.com, the retail price must be shown on the Target.com website and must be valid at the time the price match is requested. Target.com pricing must be validated by a Target team member.
For matching competitor ads, the retail price must be shown in the competitor’s advertisement and must be valid the day the price match is requested.
Competitor catalogs can be matched as long as the catalog displays a current date, retail price and meets all other competitor ad match qualifications.
Price matches for prices offered Nov. 22–24 by Target, Target.com or a competitor are excluded.
We reserve the right to verify a competitor’s advertised price and the availability of the item.

Does the price matching apply to Black Friday deals from other stores? For example if you find an ad for a Black Friday TV for $200 and you go to Target and find the same TV for $300 will Target honor the $200 price? Anyone have experience with this last year?

So they won't price adjust their own prices?

I don't have experience in this, but here is the thread from last year. I believe the trick is in the terminology. You aren't trying to price match, but price adjust. You know like if you buy an iPhone 4s for $199 and the next day they announce iPhone 5 and drop the price of iPhone 4s to $99--you can go back in and price adjust to get back the $100 difference.

I think there's a thread discussing how Target won't do price adjustments for BF prices. And maybe the whole "Target won't price match Target" has something to do with regional pricing.

People who work at Target are reporting that there will be no price matching/adjustments for Black Friday sales during Black Friday (Nov. 22-24). This means you cannot bring in ad for a product that is on sale for a lower price somewhere else and get the lower price from Nov. 22-24.

You can however price match until Dec. 24, using target.com (which has different prices sometimes), an ad or an online price at a major retailer that you can prove. All the fine print is at the Target corp site I linked above.

Last year on Black Friday, they wouldn't price adjust an item I bought the week before. They also wouldn't do a return/rebuy at the counter. I had to return the old one and get a new one off the shelf and go through check out. (It was a sheet set.)

Last year, they were price matching as long as it wasn't a door buster. This year, they aren't price matching at all.

Well it appears they will price match, just not on 11/22-11/24 for B&M and 11/22-11/26 against walmart.com, amazon.com, bestbuy.com, toysrus.com, babiesrus.com. They WILL NOT price match any other websites according to their policy (linked a couple posts up). And judging by the wording, the trick from last year of price adjusting probably won't work.

Right, that's exactly what I said. Last year they *did* price match during BF weekend as long as it wasn't a door buster, however this year they *will not* price match during BF weekend.

We are in complete agreement

According to my wife, who works for Target, they are or have already gotten iPad minis in their stores for the sole purpose of verifying Amazon, Bestbuy, etc prices and they will be price matching. I didn't ask her if that was valid on BF pricing and based on what I'm reading here it sounds like they won't be doing it for Thanksgiving/BF weekend.
