Hey thanks man, 8 GB seems less for 64 bit, I don't want to buy any thing less than 12 GB in a 64 bit OS laptop in future. To me, I can wait 2 more seconds to get the response given a slower processor but not less memory given all those ever more memory intensive applications. Also, by Windows 8 means is it by any means touch screen, I hope not at this cost?

Are there any Windows 8 touch, > 14" tablet/laptop at all this thanks giving?

Can you purchase this online too or is this only a doorbuster?

that's way overkill IMO. If you really pay attention to your memory usage, i'm willing to bet you don't even get close to the 8GB mark - let alone 12.

sure, 64-bit will happily accept as much memory as you can throw at it. But unless you're using the laptop for some major workhorse applications, which I doubt given this is a low-midrange priced and powered system, 8GB is quite sufficient.

Let's be realistic here...an i3 is a great CPU for a low(ish) end laptop. 6GB is a great match for it and 8GB is probably a bit overkill.

That said, "needing" 12GB of RAM with an i3 is like "needing" to have your Ford F150 lifted and outfitted to look like a monster truck...it's just a matter of buying with you groin rather than your brain...I'm sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear, but someone has to say it.


...point is, 8GB is going to be plenty...if at any point 8GB is no longer enough RAM for your needs, then the rest of the laptop is going to be even more lacking.

This isn't a gaming laptop, nor is is a great graphic designer laptop (note the piss-poor resolution?).

I'm just making the point that 8GB is in no way the bottleneck of this machine so please re-evaluate your expectations. I'll do the same with mine if you want to tell me what your planned uses for outfitting a similar laptop with 12GB are and let you know if it's realistic.

i assume this would run windows 8 rt since it doesnt have an intel processor? can a computer genius help me out??
