Will my mother kill me if I get her one of these for her 60th bday? She's a snowbird Canadian who spends her winters in AZ. I'm in NY and I started getting AARP mailers at 30, sigh.

I was a member once, all I got was a ton of soliciting mail and emails. I don't think it is worth even free.

Once she gets used to the idea, and sees the discounts, she will be pleased. I was not comfortable with the "idea" of being old enough for AARP until I browsed a lot of their discounts. I just extended my membership for me and my partner for an additional year via this offer. This is a Great deal.

Going now to rep and thank OP

then you should use fake name for your car insurance, healthcare and life insurance if you want to take advantage of their discounts. unless you want free monthly magazines from them. last time i looked, most of them were pushing for obama agendas on health reform.
