i have 2 of these, an older one (about 5 years old) and a newer one (a year old), these are not as well made as they used to be (my older jacket is better made). but having said that this is still a great jacket for the price amazon is selling them for.

LOVE my Columbia! Got it for a killer price a few years back when Amazon used to offer more coupons and price adjustments.

Meh.... Bulky, not very breathable. not so warm, not so wind/water proof and fits like a sack.

I have no idea why Columbia and North Face jackets are so popular.

This seems like a nice deal ... these jackets are $190-$210 on other sites. But I live in frigid Minnesota, and am not sure this will be warm enough. Some reviews (the most reviews for this jacket are on Cabelas.com) say it's not the warmest jacket. I'm undecided ... any body in northern climates have this jacket and recommend it?

In New Haven, CT (windy and on the water) I liked it for active days. For days that it was going to be 5 below at the bus stop, I went with a long down coat, but for more moderate winter days, I liked it. Very waterproof - a good ski coat. I lost a significant amount of weight but still kept the coat around for active hikes and for digging out the car. Being able to zip out the lining gave more flexibility on using it as my "stuff is actively coming down but I need to keep clearing the car" coat.

If you're in MN, you should have a coat wardrobe. This won't be the warmest thing in your closet (i.e., something down) but will be fantastic for active days in the teens through 30s. Of course, once it hits 40, it's like tank top weather...
