Because computer monitors only come in LCD or old school CRT. it has nothing to do with LCD over Plasma.

Also, as a ex- competitive gamer, going to tournies, you don't bring your set-up with you, you use what is provided to you, which are loaner machines from sponsored companies, mostly likes of Dell. You only bring your mouse, keyboard and mouse surface if you want.

Coscto has it for 599.99 also (after instant rebate till 11/17). However Costco has the better warranty deal total 5years for 60.00. That makes total price 30.25 more than Sams but Sam's is only a 4 years of warranty. If Warranty term/cost is important Costco way to go.

Sam's 549.77 + 79.96 warranty = 629.73 (4 years coverage)
Costco 599.99 + 59.99 warranty = 659.98 (5 years coverage)

Difference of 30.25

Game mode is designed to bypass upconversion on some or all plasmas when the TV's native resolution is input. It's just a more direct route to remove the slight delay all HDTVs have due to signal processing.

The guy on here saying plasmas have delay is completely lost. Pay NO attention to him people. The only delay they have is a few millisiconds for video signal processing that ALL HDTVs have.

This just arrived. The glare off of the screen is very prominent. At this point I am not sure whether we will return it for one that has less of a glare. I guess we have 30 days to decide but at this point my girlfriend is pretty obsessed with it. It isn't a massively bright room but it definitely isn't a dark room.

Anyone have a suggestion for at 50 inch TV that would have less glare?

Go for an LED if your TV is in a position with glare. There is no way around it with a plasma. The step up panasonic models (and most other brands) have an anti-glare filter but it's still not perfect

Are these difficult to mount to the wall because of the weight?

Does this plasma produce a lot of heat? I was told that LCD/LED generally produce a lot less heat than plasma. It is for a dorm room and the plasma TV I'm using now is killing me with the heat, so I'm looking for a new TV.

All just opinion, but I doubt it. The 60" version of this has been around $800 before.

a 60" tv is 44% larger in area than a 50", so at $600, the 60" would need to be $600x1.44 to be the same cost per square inch, or $864. As such, the 60" version of this tv has been and will be a better deal in the not so distant future. Amazon has it for $894 now and it is listed in their good black friday deals section, I bet they will drop the price to $800 or less sometime this coming week.

Also if you aren't in love with plasma screens and their glossy finishes, the Vizio 60" smart tv is $688 at walmart and amazon, or will be for black friday deals, that is also a better cost for the size, and quality.

I've got a plasma in a bright room that isn't a problem for us, it does have an AG filter though. If you go up to the ST it has an AR filter, it's a pretty big jump in price though.
