Thanks OP - I've been thinking about a new Nook for awhile and one of the reviews of this one said that you can read in total darkness - I've been looking at the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight but the reviews weren't the best so decided to jump on this - price was very good!!

Haven't tired with this newer nook, but the original rooted with CM7 was my fav tablet for a while. and kids loved it. I only used for web browsing/pulse reader. dvd rips and simple games not reading.

This is a good 7" tablet, especially with CM JB. I've had mine since June 2011. The only thing I worry about is the battery, unless these come with new batteries which I doubt. Mine won't hold charge anymore, and I basically have to keep it plugged in all the time even while I am using it, which makes it not very portable. The battery is apparently quite diificult to swap out, not to mention that a replacement battery will cost $27 from Amazon. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have one of these. CM7 if you ask me is too flawed for use. I now run CM10 from microSD. It is slower than CM7 and is pretty marginal. I use mine by the bedside for mornings when I want to lay in bed and read Engadget, newspapers, get the weather, etc.
I'd personally say the equipment to me would be worth $50, but I'm not sure I'd ever see it make that type of price. It is a solid tablet that you can give to the kids (my 4 year old often has it) without too many worries about damage. The speaker you should know is in the back and weak. If it suits your needs at all as either a reader or a budget Android tablet modded with CM7/10, I don't see a lower price on the horizon. Last edited by Erechtheus; 11-11-2012 at 07:30 AM.. |

Got a refurbished one on the last eBay deal. You definitely get what you pay for on build quality. Mine had a loosely fitting back cover and volume down button that didn't work very well. I played with CM7 on it and sold it shortly after.
A friend got the same deal and the touch screen was broken in one corner out of the box. Probably good as a beginner tablet for kids or something. |
