If you have a smart phone you really ought to be using the official xbmc remote app.

Works with any of them.

I just ordered mine to work with HDhomerun Prime, but would work with haugepage, ATI, Ceton, etc.

I hate that it is IR making the remote Line of Sight but this price is so low that I can't really complain too too much about that.

I hope just any TV tuner will work ok. The cheapest I see is a MSI for $35. Reviews say WMC can't do QAM on it, but I am only looking to do OTA broadcasts.

edit: That MSI tuner is PCI only. Just bought this motherboard with no PCI ports (PCI-E only) as it is obsolete. Silly me I guess.

Remote has nothing to do with your tuner. Remote only requires a USB port to work. It then integrates with WMC or XBMC which integrates with any tuner.

If you are attracted to this deal for XMBC compatibility, I would suggest going with the Logitech Harmony series, even the cheapest one (<$20, the one I use) works wonders. The advantage is that you can control your original TV and XMBC (and whatever other device you have) using a single easy to configure remote. In other words, you can turn on XBMC, turn on your TV, change input to XMBC, adjust volume, and power off either devices all on one remote!

You CANNOT control your original TV with this remote control.

In order to have my setup, you would need to purchase
1) Logitech Harmony
2) ANY usb remote reciever (the one from HP is unofficially endorsed by the XMBC community). Even the receiver that comes from this particular deal SHOULD work.
3 XMBC running on Windows 7.

I know the refurbs go for $30 but they do not come with an IR receiver for your computer. Can you link an IR receiver thats cheaper than $14 that would work with a Harmony remote?
