If the quality is similar I think I would chose the Kobalt (20 drawers) since I prefer not stacking tools on top of each other. |

Looks like the Kobalt weighs about 60 lbs more and is only 1 " deeper. Height and width are the same.

i went to go check it out but they lowes didnt have it on display. i know the costco one is rock solid and well built, not like that craftsman ones that feels like sheetmetal.

How does Kobalt stack up against craftsman or any other tool box? I'm not a mechanic, but looking for something to house my tools that's more organized than the small tool box i have from home depot. Seems like a lot of money.... |

I think the Kobalt is better built than the Craftsman boxes I've looked at in this price range. This Craftsman combo usually goes on sale for around $700 numerous times per year so would be a good comparison size wise but I haven't seen it in person:

not only is craftsman now made in china but i looked at their toolboxes a week ago and like the previous poster said anything that is "similar / comparable" price range is garbage from craftsman, the craftsman ones are so "flimsy" and are not as solid. The metal / construction they used on their boxes is down there with the harbor freight ones, the bearings also dont slide as smooth, craftsman has just turned into a mess (what a shame). the Husky tools chests are soso, presonally the Kobalt is better built as its more "solid" and surprisingly the trinity chests (costco) are even more solid but less drawers. |
