Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz LGA 1155 Processor $230 In-Store Micro Center

I got a price adjustment for my i7-950 CPU a few years ago. I went to the local MC where it was bought, and with my receipt got the adjustment. It was within the 30 day window - no problem. And at the time, I asked what would happen if the price went down again within that same 30 day window, and the CSR told me I could get a second price adjustment.

So unless MC has changed their policy lately, I think you should be able to get a price adjustment. Also you might be able to get it on the phone. Certainly no need to remove the CPU from your board or anything like that.

One thing - I doubt many folks need this powerful CPU. For those wondering if they should upgrade from i5, I wouldn't do that, unless there are specific power needs that require an i7. (I only got an i7 for Adobe CS5 - to handle video editing and effects work.)

Yep, normal price was 329, Microcenter was the only one consistently doing 289, this is rediculous at 230.

And I'd highly suggest the ASUS Z77 Sabertooth MB.

How many people here are actually needing this processor? What is the point of spending so much extra on this when the 3570k does essentially the same thing in gaming? Unless your doing hardcore photo editing, video editing, encoding, or 3D modeling the extra $80 could be spent on something else.

Most people reading this thread probably have justified paying the premium over the 3570k, for whatever reason they may have. Those who use a computer in a very limited, or "normal" way obviously wouldn't find it worthwhile to pay extra for more power. And I wouldn't say being "hardcore" is necessary to want increased performance.

I built my HTPC for $750 last month so the 3770k premium was ~10% of the total cost...definitely worth it for +30% faster handbrake encoding and to buy a little more time until the system reaches obsolescence...

I bought a 3770k at MC in October at $289 and already got one $20+tax price adjustment when it dropped to $269. I went in the store, showed them the receipt, and it was no hassle at all. I'm going back tonight to try to get another adjustment for the new price.

This blows.... in that I can't get in on the MC deal. This is one slickdeal for sure. I've been waiting for some kind of price drop and it's always only from MC. MC in Santa Clara, CA closed down. I'd buy 2 for the heck of it at this price (of course I'd wait till the price dropped even more to get the 2nd one ) If there was only a way to get someone to buy this and ship it out to me. Oh well, my new build will be a paperweight till I can get CPU in it LOL. COME ON BF DON'T LET ME DOWN.
