winnings and gifts are taxable, anything $600 in fair market value and over will be taxed. For example, consider radio stations, if you win anything amounting to or accumulate in gifts over that amount in a single year you will be taxed. These are the rules of the IRS. Source: I am a CPA

The second chance drawing was supposed to be yesterday, and notifications going out today. Has anyone heard anything?

I asked on FB and they said they drew yesterday and would notify by the end of the week! Hoping to get something!

We made a mistake. We sent you an e-mail notice on January 31, 2013 informing you that you received gifts totaling $600 or more in connection with the Promotion. Because of this calculation, the e-mail also informed you that you would be receiving a 1099-MISC tax form by mail and requested that you complete a W-9 form. However, we have now determined that the total value of gifts issued by GMR to you in connection with the Promotion is less than $600. Because of this, you do not need to complete the W-9 form we previously requested. Please also disregard the 1099-MISC tax form we sent you by mail. GMR will not be filing a 1099-MISC tax form for anyone who received less than $600 in gifts from GMR in connection with the Promotion.
You will also be receiving a letter from us by FedEx the week of February 11, 2013, confirming the information in this e-mail.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

got this kind of email today under subject line jcp “merry christmas america” promotion Tax Reporting Update.

So much for that. ^^^^^^^ The IRS told them that coupons are not taxable, no matter if they call them gifts or not.

I got the letter via FedEx express stating the exact same thing the email did today. JCP should have sent a gift card as an apology.
