Dick's has a Remington 700 varmint on sale for $449.98 plus a $100 mail-in rebate. It is a doorbuster, so valid 12 am to 2 pm on the 23rd. It includes a scope. This is a great price for a 700.

I heard the barrel is non floating, does anyone know if I can install a H-S Precision stock on this rifle?

I can't find this model on Remington's website. Is this the "SPS Varmint" version of the gun, or something else?

Looks like it's Dick's exclusive. May not be on the Remington site. Best I can tell, the SPS (Special Purpose Synthetic) varmint on the Remington site has a better stock and better accuracy because of it. The Dick's gun has a lower grade stock but same action. |

The 700 ADL is the predecessor to the 700 SPS. The exclusivity is limited to the Mossy Oak camo. You can get this setup at Gander with no camo for $480 in either .22-250 or .223. They don't seem to carry the .308 or the .243. So, it seems the deal isn't as big as Dick's would leave you to believe. Still, these rifles are known to be accurate and have quite a following. FYI: ADL model has a blind magazine. No hinged floorplate like the other 700s.

I got there at midnight and stood on line. Initially they claimed they did not have the gun in stock, but I received a call saturday stating that they did indeed have one. I picked it up sunday, however the rebate they gave me was only for 40 dollars, not 100 like advertised. I guess ill have to make a couple of phone calls tomorrow.

The 100 dollar rebate was only for 12 am to 2 pm on black friday. I got mine at 1 am, had to wait for the background check to open at 5 am, they said I was delayed at 7 am, I went ahead and bought at 10 am to get the rebate, and delay was approved yesterday. So I got my rifle for $349.99 after a bunch of work.
