Speak for yourself. I don't care for 3D technology, and I know many people who agree with me. Yes, this projector is dated, but still highly rated. It's recent price drops reflects how dated it is, but definitely is still a great projector for its price range.

dated yes.. but this is Epson's best selling projector. this is the best 2D projector for the money @ 799 bar none, as someone who underwent countless sleepless nights looking for the right projector. GOOD 3d projectors are three times as much and have NO vertical/horizontal shift (they rely mostly on keystone adjustment)..it also has crazy zoom.. this means setup flexibility. . I went one step up and got the 8500UB refurb (same thing but better contrast) for 1100.. I would jump on this if i had not bought it already.

At this price this is a steal. I have no desire for 3D either in the theater nor in the home. I will GLADLY pay much less to leave that feature out.

I have this projector and it's fantastic! I got it direct from Epson refurbished for $849 with no tax and free shipping which, depending on your local sales tax, might have been a slightly better deal than this. Having said that, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Where is this Fry's ad? The one that was posted earlier was the 2011 ad, which is why people were commenting that it "looked familiar."

I know it's low end, but can anyone recommend the best projector available in the $200 neighborhood?

3D sucks I hate it...dont know why everyone is so crazy about 3D

this is way low end...I dont think u can even find a 720p projector for this price thats gonna be any good at all...prob need to double your budget.
