I did not say incandescent bulbs were outlawed; I said 100W incandescent bulbs are no longer manufactured, which is correct. They do not meet the efficiency standards set forth by the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007.

You are correct in saying that they have not been outlawed, but you are incorrect in saying that they are still manufactured and available here in the US. As stated above, 100W incandescent bulbs do not meet the EISA efficiency standards and thus it is a violation of the EISA to manufacture or import them into the US and has been since January 1, 2012 (January 1, 2011 in CA). Certain types of bulbs (e.g. appliance bulbs) are exempted [lightingfacts.com] from the new standards. If someone wants to make a more efficient 100W bulb that complies with the new standards they can, but I am not aware of any manufacturer that has done so.

I love these Reveal bulbs and have not found one CFL brand that compares in light quality, sigh

No, those do not meet the efficiency requirements for 100W bulbs, so I would presume that they are old stock. Retailers are still permitted to sell existing stock.

I just had a look on GE's website [gelighting.com] and they no longer manufacture that bulb.
