Oh, I always wanted a topre keyboard, but just couldn't justify the cost since I was satisfied with cherry mx. I've been waiting on a deal for the quickfire rapid browns and thinking of swapping it out with white PBT keycaps and use as my primary keyboard. I just recently returned a Monoprice Mechanical Reds because the LEDs were flickering and scaring the crap out of me late at night and the overall feel of the board was really cheap and I could've sworn NKRO did not work sometimes during gaming. I heard about CM reducing the branding and logos on their keycaps too. Is it safe to say if I were to purchase one now it'd be the newer batch? I just wanted to confirm. |

BTW these aren't tenkeyless, and it depends what types of keys you like. If you prefer the tactile feedback, go either blue or brown (in which case, it boils down to resistance). If you don't care for the tactile feedback, get the reds (or if you want more resistance, get the blacks) As much as I want a mech keyboard right now, I'm a little strapped on funds since I bought my Note II outright at $700 after taxes (well, deciding between a keyboard and a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" once I sell off my Nexus 7 which I've barely used since I got my Note II) Last edited by Deals4Lyfe; 11-13-2012 at 12:57 AM.. Personally, I find blue too loud (while others find it satisfying), but has the benefit of tactile feedback so that you know when the key has been registered without bottoming out. You can look up comparison charts between the two switches, but the cliffnotes are: Blue(50g) is heavier than Red (45g) Blue clicks and has tactile feedback (you hear a click and feel a bump when the key actuates); Red is linear - no feedback except for bottoming out Then there is Brown - essentially the same as red, except with tactile feedback. Personally, I am split between Brown and Red, but I lean closer to red. My red is also a TKL, which makes a big deal, lol. They both have their perks. Red is ideal for me because I don't have to be worried about getting chewed out (too much) for typing at night. I am also a wuss, and prefer lighter switches |

Yeah, stick with Cherry MX. It has the option of customizing keycaps - which is cool in some regards (just ordered the D3 Sanctuary keycap set from GH...for my CM). I think you're pretty safe at this point. I believe Amazon has pretty much cycled through their old stock and shipping exclusively new unless CM provided them some older stock again. You can also email the folks at cmstore, and request for a "brandless" model. Of course, they screwed mine up, but I'll live. That was about 1-2 months ago, so you have much better odds. |
