This price is almost certainly temporary, possibly today only. If you listened to rock radio in the 1990s, you know some Soundgarden songs. If you didn't, think of Pearl Jam with hints of Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Stone Temple Pilots. If it sounds like Audioslave, it's because Soundgarden's lead singer went on to form Audioslave after Soundgarden disbanded in the 90s. Obviously, he's back with Soundgarden now.
The entire "classic" Soundgarden lineup is intact. They even got their drummer back, who joined Pearl Jam after Soundgarden broke up and has been with Pearl Jam ever since (I think he's in both bands simultaneously).
In the middle of my first listen through. So far I'd say the sound is most reminiscent of the Superunknown album, but with a little more polish and sharper less blurry vocals and instrumentation on some pieces. It's still grunge, but I they make a nod toward modern music as well. I'd neither say they seem mired in the past or abandoned their classic sound. It's their classic sound with a few modern tweaks that they don't go overboard on.

doesn't seem as heavy as i remember soundgarden. Might be rose coloured goggles but it feels more like an extension of down on the upside instead of heading back to the golden years of badmotorfinger or superunknown.
I guess i was hoping for more after so many years.
