Finally 2560 wide monitors are getting to slightly more sane prices. Still no decently priced 2560x1600 monitors though and there may never be because it seems the manufactures are all killing 16:10.

It's beginning to make less sense buying the Korean monitors, though we're still not quite there. At least name brand monitors aren't 3x the price anymore, but slightly under twice the price of an equivalent Korean monitor.

Should try to get Amazon to price match this. Amazon actually had it for $699 yesterday, but they just sold out of stock. Newegg also had it for $699 after coupon code.

Shit. I'm waiting on my U3011 to ship from Amazon; paid $1076 for it after gift cards etc, but they're currently OOS. This is tempting, I could do with another $400 in my pocket.

I've had 2 Catleaps, and I've used the new Dell U2713HM and Asus PB278Q. A pixel perfect Catleap/Shimian/Crossover/etc. is $400-$500. It's worth the difference.

Okey I'm going to ask the noob question and I'm completely serious. Whats the point of spending this much money on a monitor? couldn't u just buy a very nice Samsung big screen TV with IPS for this much? What is the actual benefit of the monitor?

I paid $290 shipped for my Catleap and it is pixel-perfect. I didn't pay for the pixel-perfect check though because it's a secondary monitor and I would have been OK with it having a dead pixel or two. Even now that's still a $360+tax difference but was closer to $500 back then.

Could we somehow get a automatic FAQ posted for any monitor with WQHD resolution? People ALWAYS mention large TVs being cheaper but they always fail to notice the difference in resolution.

HDTV: 1920x1080 pixels = 2,073,600 pixels
WQHD Monitor: 2560x1440 pixels = 3,686,400 pixels

3,686,400/2,073,600 = 1.78 times as much room on these monitors than a standard 1920x1080 monitor/TV. These monitors have basically as much width as two laptop screens side by side, and twice the height. You can have two full windows open at once. You just see so much stuff with these monitors and it really boosts productivity. Lots of people don't even understand how much easier and better using a computer is when the monitor has a ton of room to display stuff, especially if you've never used a monitor with this resolution.

Well, this monitor's resolution is 2560x1440.

Please show me a Samsung TV with the PPI or resolution that this one has for 650. If you can find one
