If you want a really cheap one you can get a Korean assembled screen. For $300 you get one with only Dual-Link DVI input (basically only works for desktops without an expensive adapter) and not guaranteed to have a perfect panel. It may have a few dead pixels and may have uneven backlighting. I bought one of these to be a secondary monitor for my desktop and I happened to get one with zero dead pixels and only slightly uneven backlighting. For $400 you can get one with a lot of inputs (HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort in addition to Dual-Link DVI) AND a US warranty. These will work on many laptops (anything with a DisplayPort or an HDMI 1.4 port). These also don't have a perfect panel guarantee. The Dell one mentioned in this post has a 3 year advanced exchange warranty and a perfect panel guarantee. If you even have one dead/bright pixel they will advanced-replace it for you. This is a large part of the cost in these screens. They're expensive to ship if just one of the 3.7 million pixels is defective. $300 ones just search on eBay for WQHD $400 one is available from Microcenter [microcenter.com] |

I got two monitors for $100 (after tax) less than a Costco Dell 27". I like that!

About 9 years ago , IBM / lenovo introduced a 2048 x 1536 panel for one of their 15" laptops and we know how that ended up. |

I used to have 22" monitor with 1920 x 1080 res.
then I upgraded to to acer 27" monitor with 1920-by-1080 resolution. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-H274HL...ed+monitor It was not really a upgrade... it was basically bloated up 22".. didn't like it when I surf... it was ony good for watching movies. Then I picked up Apple cinema display 30" with 2560 X 1600.. ( craigs) the difference is night and day. so much better to work on. IF YOU ARE PICKING UP 27" 30" monitor, don't cheap out on resolution. |

Build quality is OK, Dell build is better..surprise.. The Auria stand sucks, so I'm using a Dell RM361 Monitor Stand , 20.00 NEW shipped from Ebay, or 100.00 plus tax from Dell..works great..The military purchased thousands of these stands and now they are dumped brand new on ebay.. I was toying with using two of these Auria on my desk, but I just don't think I have a use for two since I'm not really a gamer. Dell build quality, warranty is better. I'm assuming the internal components are better too. Slickdeals saves me a ton of money. I just got my second case of dog food at half price!....Of course, now I need to get a dog

I didn't know that Dell stands could work for other monitors. From my small ultrasharps, it seems they have their own mounting system and when the Dell mount is removed there is a standard VESA screw hole mount. I'm surprised that the Dell stand fit onto a non-Dell monitor. EDIT: Just checked them out on eBay. Looks like they include an adapter to let you use standard VESA monitors. Those cheap stands are meant to have laptop docking stations in them though, doesn't it look funny without one? Last edited by petard; 11-13-2012 at 12:52 PM.. |

Yeah, it's made for a Dell docking station, since I have a Dell M6600, it works great. If you don't use a docking station below, you have a flat plastic panel, great for paperwork. This stand has high quality metal, and rotates every which way. Bargain for 20.00
