My Bulova is the best watch I've owned, although my self imposed price range has capped out around ~$500. It is a 21 jewel automatic, and I love wearing it.
I think anticipating that Bulova watches will someday be crappy/Chinese made is a little ridiculous, although it might be accurate. Bulova is still my favorite mid-low price brand. Just my two cents. Edit: Also do not compare Bulova to Invicta. Invicta is a cheap brand that sells on amazon for ~$50-60 on sale even though MSRP is something crazy like $800. I'm a bit of a watch nut myself.
Bulova is a solid watch company. They have numerous quality levels to include non Swiss, as well as Swiss made Bulovas. However, I've seen marine stars as low as $85 Bulova's premium brand is Accutron, which are excellent watches, and a great value for the dollar, as well as 100% Swiss made. I own 3 Accutron swiss automatics, all purchased in 2008 just after Citizen bought Bulova. Citizen watch company owns Bulova. I'm not sure if this still applies to new purchases after the acquisition, but another great aspect of the Accutron line is that your first service is free. That itself is roughly a $350 value for an ETA 7750 movement piece. |
