Good price for a entry to mid-level Whirlpool. I just always hate that retailers use the MSRP price for comparison. This dishwasher is NEVER sold at $449. Most retailers really sell this for $349 to $399. So the $299 price is really only $50-$100 savings. Still a good price for this model when most appliances only have a 22% mark up.

Most dishwashers are hard wired, not plugged in. You probably don't even have an outlet in the dishwasher cavity, just a bare wire, so what good would it do you? You'd have to cut it off anyway so you'd be paying extra for a cord you did not need. Maybe new homes have plugs in the dishwasher cavity, but that's the vast minority, and if you do have one it probably cost you $50 to $100 to have it installed even if that cost was built into the purchase price of your home.

Also, electric dryers use 220v plugs, but there are multiple 30 amp outlet types, some 3 plug, some 4. You have to get a plug that matches the outlet, and your old dryer has a plug on it. Why pay $20 to $25 for a new plug, when you can just take it off the old appliance that's being replaced? How would the manufacturer know which plug you needed? They're not going to put one of each type in the box. How would they know what length you need? 3,4,5 feet? Have you looked at wire prices lately? Copper is through the roof! I just bought some bulk wire and it cost me $3 and change a foot.

I don't know what you wrote, but I still stand by my statement that anything that uses power should come with its own power cord. For example, I just replaced my food waste disposal and had to reuse the old power cord. It should've come with its own power cord already wired in. Again, I don't like that scheme.

I understand and agree with you to some extend, but reusing the old, still usable, power cord is much more eco friendly. Further, I'm sure the product price would reflects the power cord if they do include them. Just my 2 cents

What if that old power cord is all beat up and not safe to reuse anymore? Then the consumer would have to put out $10-20 to buy a new one. Regardless, I think a few-hundred-dollar dishwasher should come with a pre-installed power cord.
