Guys I have a question. My friend wants to know if the passport hard drive can be read by the ps3 slim. Online searches has given me results that some drives can't be powered by the ps3 slim usb port.

I made the order and hope it's available soon.

I logged into my account, but shipping still shows - not free.

EDIT: Seemed that it didn't take my logon. I did again and all worked fine.

The passport is better to me since it has 2yr warranty vs 1yr for the elements. About the backup software, I don't see it after repartitioning my drives.

Not only that, I think Ive heard all WD portables are soldered connectors. Toshiba canvio too. Confirmed open-able are seagate backup series or goflex.

I have a multitude of different external HDDs (even a laptop HDD that i stuck in an portable external closure from china) and they all plugged into the PS3 once I formatted them to FAT 32

TBH this is a "good deal" at best, not a slick deal. if youre deal hunting you can usually find these drives around this price when they are on sale, or if you really wanted to save you hover around eBay a few days and scoop one up at this price or even a few dollars lower.

Plus the fact that a couple retailers are planning to sell 1TB portables for $59 on BF, At this price its a buy 1 if you need, not a stock up and save deal.
