Nice (but not too pricey) spa robes?

For our honeymoon, my wife and I stayed at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. Every morning we slipped on their awesome white waffle weave spa robes and ate breakfast on the balcony.

I'm looking for similar robes to give ourselves for the holidays, but recently lost my job (or I'd be tempted to spring for those W hotel ones!)

Look for 100% cotton or 100% Turkish cotton. I really love Robemart for this type of robe, the price is right $16.95 each ($5 more for x-large size), and you can add personalization for another $8 for a truly unique, personalized gift. We have these, and I am 5'11" and a large guy and the X-large fits me well. http://robemart.com/waffle-kimono...PAodlU8A7g

Another inexpensive place with great quality robes is Domestic Bin - http://www.domesticbin.com/Waffle...P6275.aspx

Amazon has a great one also, very comfortable. http://www.amazon.com/TowelSelect...B007A2NRL0

The Elizabeth Arden one from Bed, Bath, and Beyond is my favorite luxury robe though! - http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/p...U=17154567

I've seen them at Crabtree & Evelyn stores...and then also at TJMaxx/Marshalls.

Good luck!

It seems like you know a lot about these. What is the best style / material for lounging around and feeling a bit luxurious. Not planning on using these as actual bathrobes, so I'm less concerned about being absorbent.

That depends on how tall you are, and what kind of comfort you are looking for. If you are just going for an overall "soft feel", then go with Turkish cotton, it is softer and feels more luxurious than regular 100% cotton. When it comes to sleeves, you will have to decide if you want full length or 3/4 sleeves. Personally, I like the sleeves long, so I get the full length sleeves. I tend to order robes like these a size larger than is actually needed (such as ordering an XL if you would normally wear a L) because I like a lot of space in my robe. You also need to decide what length is important to you, do you want it to go to your knees, to the floor, or somewhere in between. My favorite length is the 52" length with full sleeves, it makes me feel like I am wrapped in luxury.

I have been told for the ladies, that the Elizabeth Arden is the most comfortable and luxurious of the robes. They sell them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and the last time I purchased one, I used a coupon that was in a mail circular. It is the go to robe for all of the ladies in my life (mom, girlfriend, grandmother, etc). My ultimate luxury robe is the Ralph Lauren waffle robe, but it is extremely pricey (over $100). I received mine as a gift, and none of the cheaper robes come close to the comfort except for the organic cotton waffle robe from Pottery Barn, which is also way overpriced!
