AT&T Motorola 11.6" Lapdock $40 + FS

here you go... his was written up in another forum related to the android sticks....

"I began doing my research (google/ebay-fu) after i bought the lapdock for $50 back in January from att.com, refurbished. This extensive search process was laborious but necessary when dealing with these common and redundant terms!! Sooo many false positives and subtle but critical differences in descriptors, very frustrating.

I initially purchased the following, as my intention was using with a PC/XBOX 360:

I think the coupler configuration is brilliant for two reasons. One, you can use the more common/cheaper Male Micro HDMI to Male HDMI cable (that ships with most phones) AND using the two above cables, can connect side by side on the stock Lapdock connectors without any modifications.

In order to protect a host's (PC, xbox, bluray, embedded computer) host's USB ports, I cleanly modified (cut red 5v) the Micro USB cable. This way I can still use a standard Male USB A to Male USB A cable in order to be flexible with length. Traveling and taking lapdock for for use with HDMI laptop as second screen, or bringing over a game console... pack short cable. Using to toy around with a device tucked away? Use a longer A-A cable. Makes for tweaking HDMI driven HTPC and other small devices easy and convenient because of the portable nature of the lapdock. Battery powered console!

Now when it comes to the MK802 or android stick computers:

I'm not sure why everyone appears to be using two cables or a split cable situation, wasting a USB port. You can connect the MK802 to the lapdock in a very clean way with no MK802, cable or dock modifications whatsoever. When using the lapdock with the MK802 you actually do want to use the 5v coming up the Male Micro USB port along with the data pins (just like a phone would) so you can power AND act as USB host to make the trackpad and keyboard enumerate. This is the best combination of working cables and adapters to achieve this IMO:

These are the exact item numbers of what i purchased back in July after obtaining my mk802. It works great and is very clean. you could probably train the cables and/or add some velcro to mount this, but i usually just leave it dangling off the back, these cables feel like they are made for this application! With the adapters in place the length is uniform and perfect. Even the notched right angle of the USB adapter snugs up into the Female Mini USB input cut-in on the MK802 case! I can confirm full USB functionality in android and linux. The two rear Lapdock ports are freed and act as a USB hub, so you can connect USB drives or wired LAN adapter. Additionally the MK802 still has its Full size port, which is great for a nano bluetooth receiver.

The third link is somewhat expensive at $10/cable (and if you only care about using this with the mk802, you dont NEEED the HDMI half) but they are extremely versatile and great for using the lapdock with another phone with USB and HDMI in Micro variety.

Regardless, I challenge anyone to find these obscure cables from ANY other source, much less at any other price.

its for the atrix. you need to flip the connectors around for other moto phones, or get the cable set i linked above

would you recommend using the cables instead of flipping the ports??? i like the idea of having it set in the back as well as putting it on the side....

I bought one of these a week ago, I love it.

I had to buy the female to male cables from ebay, additionally I had to carve them both with a knife to remove excess plastic so they could plug into this thing.

It's careful work, but it's really fun, and in the end you have a high quality lap top thing to plug into a computer, smart phone, tablet, raspberry pi, or what ever. Highly recommend this. It's incredible value (nice screen, keyboard, battery).

I recommend, after carving the cables, you plug them in and then hot glue them together so you have one thing to attach rather than two.

up to you, i suppose it depends on what your more frequent application will be.

personally i dont own a phone that has this connector configuration so flipping for me adds no value, and with the cable set i can connect if i need to but otherwise normally use it with full sized HDMI anyway. from what ive seen flipping the cables around is pretty trivial.



haha yah thats pretty ghetto.. check the links above for adapters that will fit side by side without 'carving' and dont require a stack of adapters (and use more common cables)

These are perfect for watching movies on the plane, and some moderate web browsing.

Dont expect to replace your laptop



What moto phone do you have ? Atrix HD?

I have the atrix HD and even if you flip the ports, the phone will be sitting on it vertically and upside down which isnt a very secure method.

Or you could just mod the cradle further to add additional support for vertical standing phones, I have seen people use credit cards.
