I can't figure out why one would prefer a 21:9 screen with a vertical resolution of 768 pixels. It would seem like a more traditional 16:9 screen at 1600x900 would be far more useful....

Widescreen movies are in 21:9 (like in the theater) so no black bars

That's what they said when they wanted to go from 4:3 to 16:10, then when they wanted to go from 16:10 to 16:9. I'd say, make the movies in 5:4, and give me back my 5:4 screens!

that is by far the worst resolution scenario ever possible

It's cheaper than what my best friend bought at ebay.com last week. Really a nice price.

Think of it this way: When you get a cinematic version of a video to watch on a 16x9 laptop, there are black bars on the top and bottom.

When you get a [more common] 16x9 widescreen video to watch on a 21x9 screen... you'll have black bars on the sides.

Oh yeah, and when you look at a picture you've taken on a camera, or most anywhere else, it will be a bit funky to look at it. This is a 14" ultrawide which MEANS, the height is more along the lines of an 11". If you don't like having to do a lot o fscrolling up and down when browsing the web or working on a document... this is probably not the laptop for you.
