Most people already have cleat/pedal combinations that they like and just move them from one bike to another if they buy a new bike. Since there are so many different types of pedals and cleats it makes no sense to ship a bike with pedals.

while shopping for some Cinelli frames few months ago, i called two stores in EU/europe, wanting to buy something "made in Italy". both store owners kind of laughed and said, "asian carbon fiber technology is the best in the world, most of the so called made in italy bikes are nothing but the paint scheme is done in italy. the old days of a master tech making your frame is long gone

oh well, i still own two Bianchis from the 80s and 90s.

Hope you enjoy your new ride. The CC folks are great to deal with. I think you'll grow to like the SRAM Rival setup. It's very precise and easy to use. At this point I'd take it over Shimano.

Thanks! I've been riding SRAM trigger shifters on my mountain bikes for 9-10 years (ex pro downhill racer) so I'm aware of how their stuff feels in comparison to Shimano. I like the stronger spring tension and the more meaty clicks, although I understand why people would prefer Shimano.

But yeah, can't pass up the return policy, or better yet, looks like they go for about $1500 on Craigslist and such. =D

I also have SRAM on my Specialized MTB, but this is the double-tap system that is completely different from the MTB gear. My only gripe with the Rival is that you can only swipe two gears up at a time (unlike my son's Campy Chorus which can do up to 5 in either direction. LOL!). But one plus with the double-tap is that you can tuck your levers back by the bars so you don't wobble trying to reach for the brake levers to shift. Doesn't mean much to me, but the racers like it. The carbon fiber levers add a nice bling too. Cheers!

Just wanted to let folks know I got my bike today. It was actually very well put together, just had to bolt on the handlebar, slide the seat tube in, put the wheels on, and remove the packing material. Oh and some pedals. Took about 3.5 minutes.

Bike is great, pretty much exactly what I expected. The frame is cheaper due to a lacking unidirectional outer weave (it don't look as pretty), but the ride quality is very smooth, can tell it will be a good commuter at the end of a long day.

The wheels are cheap and heavy, obvious items like the seatpost and seat should be replaced as nearly a pound can be saved there. I'll be grabbing a basic set of Mavic wheels with some sealed hubs; these are ball and cage style and aren't going to hold up to the rigors of wet commuting.

The SRAM shifters...definitely not a fan, but I imagine I'll get used to it. I can't see too many people liking it, but at least the parts look like they will last long and the brake levers do feel great.
