Normally I would TU this thread because I don't have the unrealistic expectation that I could get this phone now for $200 WITHOUT CONTRACT, but I will not TU this time, because this is essentially T-Mobile's "retail" price on a classic contract. If they were discounting it like they are the S3 tomorrow, I would have TU.
And before you jump on me with "it's cheaper to go on a Value plan after buying from Google", well, some of us have loaded grandfathered classic plans we'd like to keep.

![]() $200 is a decent price for classic plan. Not a slickdeal for sure, but decent. The way I see it, and you seem to be saying the same thing, I want to stick to my classic plan, so I'll pay $200 for this phone to keep whatever my plan is. If I buy this phone for $350 off-contract to use on the same grandfathered classic plan, I'm out an extra $150. The only thing I get then is not being tied into a contract. But then, current prepaid or contract plans don't come close to matching what TMO's legacy plans were, so I'm not looking to leave anytime soon. If TMO starts forcing my hand like VZN did by denying upgrades, then I'll go to Google and buy this phone for $350...just to stay on this plan as long as I can. But if you are a new customer coming to TMO, Value plans make a lot of sense, and buying this phone at TMO's laughable Value pricing does not. |

I was just browsing around looking for different T-mobile service discounts that I could use and I found that if you go to the T-Mobile advantage website either through the Freelancers union or the Allied Business Network discount network pages you can get the Nexus 4 for $149.99 right now. Now this is the contract price, but you could pay the $200 early termination fee and be at $349, same as Google Play price.
