HD have 4 pc for $ 25 Big Grin bought it w/ recently deal w/ HD $ 50 off coupon!http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5...KVyBYfAfcg
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Twenty years ago, Irwin quick-grip revolutionized clamping with the introduction of the one-handed bar clamp. Quick-Grip is now taking that convenience to the next level with the SL300 (Swivel Lock). The SL300 has an I-beam bar and delivers 300 lbs. of hold force. In addition, the locking swivel jaw conforms to irregular surfaces, maintains full contact to combat flexing, or easily locks to parallel for standard clamping. The SL300 also has a Quick Change screw to convert easily to a spreader. The Quick-Grip SL300 combines one-handed convenience with unparalleled performance it’s the new generation in one-handed bar clamps.

Ok, can you be clearer please. And the other poster as well. What pieces are actually included in these deals your talking about? No one cares if it's 10 1" hand clamps.

Were there 4 12" SL300 units in the package you reference?

Thanks for the information. But I have to disagree about being a better deal. These 6 pieces are more valuable IMHO than any of the little clams.

Actually it looks like any of them are about equal if you compare quality (heavy-duty) to number of pieces.

So two 12", two 6", and two 4 1/4" OR two 12" SL300, two 4 1/4" mini = 6 light duty OR 4 heavy duty for $5 more. (or 4 heavy duty + 2 crappy clams in the other instance)

Hmmm...maybe a toss up.

I'd say these are worth about what they're charging for them ($20), but it's not really FP worthy.

If you're going to do anything more than "light duty" work, you might want to consider getting better clamps. There's nothing worse than having a clamp break on you in the middle of a job, especially if it ruins the job (or worse, injures you). Even if they don't break, flexing clamps can make life very difficult, too.

These are only rated for 100lbs, which is probably about in line with what the cheap HF clamps offer. The SL300 clamps in the $25 set from HD are not only much stronger (300lbs), they also appear to be easier to switch between clamp/spreader, as well as having a swivel/locking pad on one side of the clamp, which is definitely useful for anything that isn't square.

Not saying it's a bad deal, just know what you're getting.

I just saw more elaborate set of these at Local Costco for $30. It definitely looked much better and bigger than this one.

Don't waste your time, I checked them out today and they are basically identical to the pistal grip HF ones. I would not buy them. I bought some of the HF ones a year back. First two jobs I tried to use them on, they did not hold. I still have a set I never used from HF. Its not worth using them if they are not going to work properly.
I bought one of the 6pc sets from Lowes for $17.99 plus local tax w/the lowes 10% off coupon w/in-store pick up. Even though they are "light duty", I've got the regular Irwin set I use all the time and I think these will hold up much better than the HF or Costco sets will.
