Employers start preparing for ObamaCare

just one of the many articles I've read in the past couple of days.. I've heard about mostly restaurants recently. Applebees, PapJohn's now Denny's and a few others..

At Hurricane Grill & Wings locations, where the average bill is $14.50, the surcharge would total 72 cents. Metz said he believes the entire restaurant industry -- even high-end locations -- will ultimately embrace the idea.

In the end we ensure everyone has healthcare.. but at the cost of everyone else. I've seen talks by numerous companies about going w/ contracted workers, using more PT people, raising prices to consumers etc.. etc.. You'd have to be insane to have anticipated this, is the cost worth the benefit. I also know some very high up individuals at Private Healthcare industries. They are preparing for the absolute worst because of the payments they'll be sending out to hospitals in the future. To quote quite a few.. they don't see themselves surviving (as a company) for more than another 7 years or so.

Companies have been preparing for this for a couple years now. That's one reason the 0bama Recession has gone on so long. Only the now seem a bit more vocal about it.

good, i hope most private healthcare insurers do fail. hopefully that resulting void will be filled by universal public healthcare. it is a benefit worth any cost.

I realize they have been, but nobody takes it seriously till the Owners start spitting out the true effects of what will occur.

Go ahead fill in the blank.. Government run anything is far more expensive than privately. Or are you looking to find a way to increase the cost of healthcare?

Funny thing is that unions are opposed to ObamaCare (yes they've been protesting it.. because they take direct hits from the Cadillac tax set to take effect in several years).

I talked with a nurse in doctors office this week and she said all their doctors are in panic because of Obamacare. The owner of the office a prominent physician in our town right after the elections announced his plan to retire earlier and close the office for good. No one from other doctors who work for him wants to pick up business...

my doctor also left. He started his own private family care center. I don't know the details but you pay a flat rate at the beginning of the year for 24x7 on call care. People with ObamaCare or any other Healthcare would still have to pay that flatrate on top of everything else. His complaint was that he was afraid of feeling more like a drive through fast food chain that a doctor's office. Apparently they're anticipated that doctor's would have to see x2 as many patients or more than previously.

we will be seeing a lot of small businesses staying below that 50 employee level, and I have seen interviews with some who have just over that, say 52, who say they will lay off 3 people to stay below 50. Others will limit working hours to 28 even if people want to work longer, to stay at the part time level..

this will kill or severely hamper any growth in the economy, in jobs, in overall GDP.

Which is what Obama and the socialists want...they WANT to collapse the economy, so more people go on welfare and become wards of the state, easily manipulated and made to vote as the government wants them to.

Why do you think the DOW is tanking? real estate is being sold? businesses and assets being sold? people know higher taxes are coming, and are taking what profits they can take before that hits.

Obama's entire economic policy is a disaster for the country and the people, but it is spot-on-target for him and the socialists who WANT misery for everyone so they can take control....He is putting Cloward and Piven's strategy to practice, and we conservatives tried to warn the people as best as we could....but again voters were taken by the smooth-talking teleprompter speeches, lies, false promises, and deception...

Some people (roughly half the population) are just like kjds: they just don't head warnings not to touch the hot stove, but have to learn it the hard way and burn themselves....so the rest of us will just sit back, prepare as best as we can for the coming disaster, and then help pick up the pieces when people wake up and kick the charlatan out on his ass.

So Metz is going to add a surcharge to cover the costs of Obamacare that he won't be paying because he's going to cut everyone's hours instead?

hINT: he's cutting hours yes, but not for all employees..article says 'front of the house' employees...there are some positions which will not be or cannot be reduced, and those will cost him more to cover, thus the charge. Plus if you read the article, he expects to be fined when employees go over 30, which at times due to needs, others on vacation or off sick, etc will most likely happen.
