Any one know how to install Windows 7 on this machine?
The SSD is not a discrete SSD storage. It is part of the Intel Rapid Transfer and serves as a cache for frequently used files.
You can't install any programs or your OS on that SSD directly. The OS and all progs get installed on the HDD. Which in my case is the WD Blue Drive (5400 RPM). Phys sector size 4k
I am planning on swapping that out with the Scorpio black but wanted to know if anyone had any success with installing Windows 7. Thanks!
I installed Windows 8 on the SSD fine. You have to do a clean install and then delete out all the partitions leaving a ~1TB partition and a ~32GB partition. The ~32GB is the SSD and just install Win 7/8 on that.
I am typing my reply on this computer which I've owned for a couple of days, as my order got delayed by Dell.
Overall, I think it is a nice machine however there are few things one should be aware of before buying.
(A) The intel wireless does not play well with some older APs. This is a driver issue because I can boot from my Linux USB stick and it plays with these older APs fine. (And yes, I have the latest driver 9/30/12). So it isn't a hardware issue.
(B) The placement of the USB ports is poor. Because the ports are jammed right next to each if you happen to own even a slighty wider than normal USB stick it takes up two ports instead of one. I've come to realize that there is no combination of USB devices that I own that will allow me to use all four ports at once.
(C) the switchable graphics are as bad as everything I had read about before hand but simply couldn't believe. This isn't a problem if you aren't a gamer but for gamers it is a PITA. The biggest issue is that it will try to switch back to the intergrated graphics even in the middle of a game making the framerates go haywire. Thankfully, the switching is fast so the framerates recover quickly. It's not a deal killer but it is annoying.
(D) Under load the computer gets loud. Not awful, terrible loud but a dull roar. It was louder than I hoped it would be. Web surfing the noise level is great.
On the positive side the screen is beautiful and the I7 is lightening fast. The backlit keyboard is nice. I play WoW on utra and get 25-30 fps which is livable. Honestly the only real issue I blame on Dell is the poor port placement. The rest is just terrible software/driver implimentation that hopefully will get fixed in in time.

Yes, my reputation is turned off. Yes, it is deliberate. The reasons are my own.
