(YMMV) WII U Possibly Available For Pickup Today?

Yeah, but so does everyone else who ordered....your best bet is to wait at a store hours before opening to get your hands on one. I'm planning to go to BestBuy at around 9PM for midnight launch.

Worst case Scenario is we all get charged for this in 2 months time, when they finally have available stock of Wii U's and no one really wants them anymore

Not really. If you don't need it by a certain date, you can certainly call to cancel the order. They don't charge you unless you pick up the order. If you just let it sit there at the store after a couple days, they will automatically cancel the order and refund the charges back to you.

Got a breakfast date with the girlfriend Sunday morning so I don't think I'll be able to swing a midnight launch.

If Kmart doesn't follow through I guess I'll just get one whenever I get one.

if you ordered multiple, how do they handle that, just bring confirmations?

Ok, I called K-Mart Customer Service this morning (yes, yes I know - do not call - but I have this transaction that is just sitting there and if they are canceling it, they should have done it by now) ... anyway, the way she explained it to me (after talking to someone higher up) ... is that the store will confirm once it is ready for pickup (which obviously can't be until this Sunday). She is explained that it is basically being held for me until it is available for pickup at the store. She said the transaction looks good and it shouldn't get cancelled.

I guess it's YMMV on what the stores do with this ... I guess my question is why would stores cancel them if all they have to do is accept the order to sell it?

That was my best hope out of all of this to begin with - just to be able to pick it up on Sunday without waiting hours in a line or camping out (I wouldn't do that anyway).

This IS K-Mart we're talking about here and I'm still not very hopeful - but if ends up turning out all good, then thanks OP. Still looks like it's worth a shot.

Yeah I was told something similar, they 'stripped' the item online so that stores won't recognize it as a viable pick-up, the good thing is that they said it would just sit there for a week or two and then be cancelled or that you can cancel it if you want. I left mine open, still going to pry with the store and hope that they think I have a preorder to pick-up, but sounds like a definite YMMV.

I'm gonna print out my order page from the website and stop by the store on my way home from work tonight and see what they have on their end.

If they won't be putting one aside for me there's no reason for me to even stop in Sunday morning.

Yeah I actually called the store that I had mine set up for (it is about 45 mins away so a call was better than driving there). The store manager said that they actually hadn't even received the Wii U's in and that they were probably only getting a few in this afternoon. She said that there was still some hope that my order would process once the actual shipment of Wii U's was put into their computers, but also told me just to 'cross my fingers', not very reassuring. haha

Have people managed to get their Wii U layaway pre-orders at Walmart already? I've seen several posts about how to trick inept associates into giving them out early.
