Sick insurance, HSA's, high deductible policies
Since starting my own business in 2004, I've had a Blue Cross Options policy with a $3000 deductible. I think I've officially "used" my insurance one time at urgent care. It was a $20 copay at the time I think. So that's one visit in 8 years.
In 8 years my monthly premium has increased almost 50% from $90 to ~$135. That's over 5% annualized.
With the Obamination of Social Care looming, I'm contemplating my options. I've dropped BCBS and currently have no insurance.
Who has a high deductible policy + HSA that makes greater than 5% annualized after expenses? I'm seeing plans up around $10,000 that are under $80/month.
Anyone here self-employed and is making changes to their coverage now before they're forced into something they don't want in the future? Or are you playing it differently?
I realize what the risk here is so I don't need the lecture. Just looking for feedback/suggestions from those that have been there and what they might be doing now to prepare for what's coming.
